Vault OS and the home lab
My notes vault as a queryable system. A knowledge graph over the writing, and a local model answering from the vault with citations, on my own hardware.
My notes, turned into something I can ask questions of. A graph over the writing and a local model that answers with citations, on hardware I own.
Stack
An Obsidian vault with an operating contract. A graph built from the notes. Local model serving on a GPU, a Hyper-V Ubuntu VM running Docker and a chat UI with the vault as a knowledge collection.
Highlights
- The next session inherits the decisions. A written contract, a decisions ledger, and daily notes the agents read first.
- 176 nodes, 408 edges, 10 communities in the graph, read from the prose, not just the links.
- Capable answers with no per-call model fee; the container layer is a real VM so services lift and shift to a future always-on box.
